The best Mint Mobile plans: Get the 10GB plan for just $10/month

Image
You may have heard the hype about Mint Mobile . This online-only MVNO was only launched in 2016, but it’s gaining popularity quickly due to the simplicity and affordability of the Mint Mobile plans. The carrier was also given a huge publicity boost last year when actor-turned-investor Ryan Reynolds purchased an ownership stake in the company. Since then it’s continued to go from strength to strength, but should you be jumping on the bandwagon? Well, it depends on what you want from your wireless operator. Check your monthly data usage — do you really need that unlimited data plan you’re being charged for when you only get through 5GB of data per month? If you feel like you’re being overcharged on contracts that stretch on for years, then Mint Mobile might just be for you. This is best illustrated by taking a look at the plans on offer. Remember, this is a sim-only operator, so you’ll need to bring your GSM-compatible phone to the network or purchase one from the Mint Mobile onli

PUBG Lite will shut down in late April despite going fully free-to-play

As  The Verge notes, Krafton has announced that it will shut down PUBG Lite on April 29. The developer has already halted new downloads for the PC-based battle royale title, and the official website is effectively closed. Player support will end on May 29. The decision to shut down Lite doesn’t affect PUBG Mobile Lite , the phone-oriented equivalent — that game remains intact. There were signs of trouble months earlier, however.  The studio made the game completely free-to-play in November 2020, pulling the title’s in-game L-Coin currency. It had only been available since a beta released in January 2019, and updates stopped in ear

For second year in a row, Google could be canceling April Fools’ Day jokes

Image
According to  Business Insider , there will not be a Google April Fools’ Day prank this year. If true, this would be the second year in a row Google has not participated in the annual tradition. For most of Google’s existence, it’s created elaborate and sometimes hilarious April Fools gags. However, it declined to do so last year as the COVID-19 pandemic was ramping up. Now, with the pandemic still in full swing globally, it appears the company is still not in the mood to joke around. This is a developing story and this article will be updated. source: https://ift.tt/2PnEkBF https://ift.tt/2SGW0XN

Here’s why OnePlus didn’t use Wear OS on its watch

Image
Credit: OnePlus OnePlus has revealed that it skipped Wear OS on the Watch for the sake of battery life. The company found that many people didn’t like the one-day batteries of many rivals. It was open to adding an always-on display feature, though. OnePlus was quick to acknowledge that the Watch wouldn’t run Wear OS , but it hasn’t said much about why. Thankfully, there’s now an explanation — if a brief one.  According to Droid Life , the company’s Watch product manager revealed in a Q&A that OnePlus mostly chose the more limited RTOS over Google’s platform to offer “longer battery life.” While OnePlus didn’t elaborate further on the decision to skip Wear OS, it said in an opening statement that one-day battery life was the most common reason why people stopped wearing their smartwatches. The Watch’s two-week battery life clearly addresses that claim, even if it means losing an app ecosystem and more sophisticated features like Google Assistant. Read more: The b

Microsoft shuts down the Cortana app on Android and iOS

Microsoft has shut down the Cortana app for Android and iOS as of March 31, 2020. You’ll have to access your reminders and lists through Windows or the To Do app. The move takes one more voice assistant out of competition on mobile. You now have one less choice for major voice assistants on your phone.  MacRumors reports that Microsoft has shut down the Cortana app for Android and iOS about two and a half years after its November 2018 launch. Any content you created using Cortana has stopped functioning in the app, including lists and reminders. You’ll have to use either Cortana on Windows or the To Do app on Android and iOS to fetch your information. Related: The best to do list apps for Android The end had been coming for a while. Poco F3 review: Killer hardware brought down by sub-par software

Image
The Poco F3 launched on March 22, 2021, alongside its cheaper cousin, the Poco X3 Pro. Although the Poco brand has pushed out numerous phones since the Pocophone F1 (or Poco F1 in some markets) became a smash hit in 2018, the Poco F3 is probably the closest we’ve been to a true follow-up to that debut device. It has a few of the high-end specs users want with a low price that the Poco F2 Pro could never have matched. The problem Poco has faced over the past three years, though, is its reliance on Xiaomi . Although Poco says it’s a completely independent brand now, most of its devices are rebrands of other phones under the Xiaomi umbrella, which includes this Poco F3. Ultimately, that reliance on Xiaomi — and Xiaomi’s Android skin known as MIUI — is holding this phone back from meeting its true potential.
