Essential’s Andy Rubin was revealed to be taking a break from Essential yesterday in the wake of a report  regarding an “inappropriate relationship” he was alleged to have had while at Google. Though there must be a lot going on at the company currently, Essential continued with its bi-weekly  Reddit  “Ask Me Anything” threads yesterday where the team weighed in on a variety of topics. Firstly, they did touch on Rubin’s absence, simply stating that it was “business as usual” at Essential. Naturally, Essential wasn’t going to leave it up to the hardware and software engineers to deliver any broader messages on that topic, so, for now, we’re still in the dark as to how long Rubin will be away for. The company also briefly mentioned its next smartphone — though whether this materializes isn’t exactly a certainty at this point. The House of Representatives on Wednesday kicked against the new local language policy proposed by the Nigerian Army. The House also urged the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant general, to stop the implementation of the policy. The House noted that the policy sought to compel all personnel to be proficient in three major Nigerian languages: Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba by December 2018. The resolution was sequel to the unanimous adoption of a motion, sponsored by two members, Abiante Dagomie and Diri Douye. Moving the motion, Mr. Dagomie reiterated the need for the Army to continue with the practice of communicating in English language in a multi-lingual Army. Mr. Dagomie, who said that the policy infringed on the fundamental rights of the minority languages in the country, added that it would serve no purpose beyond fractionalisation and marginalisation in the Army. Chairman of the Presidential advisory committee Against Corruption, Professor Itse Sagay has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari would not meet with ex-pensions reform boss, Abdulrasheed Maina. Sagay said that Maina’s request was ‘Ridiculous’. He told Vanguard that Maina’s request was insulting to the country and advised him to submit himself to security agencies. “The whole matter does not justify such ridiculous request.His request to meet with the President is out of the question. If every suspect has a whistle to blow and is therefore taken to the President, I don’t think the President will have any other job to do. Apart from the protocol and status, it is even insulting to the country. He can talk to the EFCC, ICPC and Police and if he wants a higher authority, he can meet with the Inspector-General of Police.
