The swearing-in of new Imo Deputy Governor Callistus Ekenze, has been stopped by a high court in the state. We had reported earlier today that the swearing-in ceremony was ongoing at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers, at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital. However following the new court ruling,  it was gathered that the Attorney-General of the state, Miletus Nlemadim, informed those gathered for the ceremony about the ruling which halted the process. Recall that former Imo Deputy Governor,  Prince Eze Madumere was on Monday impeached by the state House of Assembly over alleged gross misconduct. A fire outbreak has caused some commotion around the Ecobank head office in Victoria Island, Lagos. The fire incident reportedly occurred today at about 8:40am when a diesel tanker was offloading diesel close to a generator that was turned on. Some witnesses report hearing a loud explosion three times. The  Lagos Government has debunked claims of planning to commence paying salary to religious leaders in the state. According to the Lagos Government in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, the claim was totally untrue and misleading. The victim, identified as Jafar, was said to have gone missing while playing with his friends in his parents’ neighbourhood in Katsina, but was later seen a few hours later with a letter said to have been written by the abductors... A Thai man, Tachawit Janngiw  and his wife , have been accused of defrauding his family through funeral costs while faking his death. According to  Coconuts Bangkok , a few photos of the man’s “lifeless body” were posted to his Facebook account by his wife. “Last photo before deactivating his Facebook,” the caption said. “Love you.” Concerned family and friends the man, were told that he died of cancer and asthma by his wife, but no one knew he was sick because he “pretended he was okay all along”. She then phoned the man’s mum, asking her to transfer her money for the funeral costs. The ‘late’ man’s mother reportedly transferred roughly $800 to his wife, to transport her dead son’s body to a temple in his hometown. But when his wife never showed up with his body at the temple, his family tried to figure out what was going on. His cousin called the “dead” man’s phone and he actually answered it. Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu, the army spokesman confirmed the arrest of five robbers at Felele, along Lokoja-Okene highway. Chukwu said the robbers were caught wearing military camouflage and robbing innocent commuters. Chukwu said three of them – Saviour Denis, 39 years, Isaac Donald, 35 years and Joseph Isah, 35 years were arrested while one Atsen was killed during an exchange of fire with the troops. He said two female accomplices, Janet Isah and Oyinoye Ochefije were also arrested during the encounter. Chukwu said the suspects were being interrogated and would be handed over to the appropriate authority for further necessary action. A woman got the "fright of her life" when she woke to find she was sharing her bed with a 3ft (90cm) long snake.  The royal python, which is thought to be an escaped pet, had curled up next to her as she slept in her flat in Kensington, west London, on Monday. According to BBC News, the woman rushed out of her room and called the RSPCA but the snake slithered away before they arrived. The harmless reptile was finally captured in the flat on Tuesday evening by officer Jill Sanders. She said: "The poor resident must have had the fright of their life waking up to a snake in their bed." The RSPCA said it did not know how it got into the flat but believe it belongs to someone living nearby. Operatives of the Lagos State Polic Command have arrested a couple, their son and his girlfriend for stealing from a neighbour who went on a 3-month vacation, leaving her house vacant. 18-year-old Tega Teddy, his girlfriend, Karima Edom, his parents, Uroye Teddy and Mrs. Margaret Teddy, succeeded in stealing from Mrs Folashade Odunuga's house for weeks until the house owner's domestic help visited to carry out routine cleaning. It was gathered that the house help noticed a lot of things including the car, were missing and immediately alerted the police who began investigations and soon caught the culprits.
