Fatoyinbo’s Wife defends husband against rape allegations

Image
The wife of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly global senior pastor, Modele Fatoyinbo, Sunday said the rape allegations against her husband were untrue. “Not even as an unbeliever will my husband rape someone,” Mrs Fatoyinbo said during the church service broadcast and monitored from inside the Lagos branch of the church in Ikeja, Lagos. But Biodun Fatoyinbo stopped his wife from talking further about the rape allegations. Biodun Fatoyinbo was alleged to have raped Busola Dakolo, a celebrity photographer and wife of Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo, when she was a teenager. Modele’s denial of the allegations is a re-echoing of her husband’s Friday statement. “I have never in my life raped anybody even as an unbeliever and I am absolutely innocent of this,” Fatoyinbo said in a statement posted to his Instagram page on Friday. However, the allegations have generated widespread condemnations, controversies and prompted protesters to storm the Abuja and Lagos premises of the church demand...

Protesters ask Pastor Fatoyinbo to step down as head of the church in the wake of rape allegations against him Protesters in Abuja on Sunday called on Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), to step aside following a rape allegation against him. Protesters had, as at 8am local time, gathered to hold a peaceful march to the Headquarters of COZA to air their grievances over allegation that Fatoyinbo raped Bisola, wife of popular singer Timi Dakolo, when she was a teenager. Report has it that Ese Walter, in 2013, had also accused the pastor of rape alongside other unnamed victims. The protesters were on Sunday seen with placards which read: ‘We are watching you,’ ‘Your Pastor is not your God,’ ‘Thou shall not rape’ and ‘No to sexual abuse in my church’ ‘God can forgive you in jail’ among others with the hashtag ‘#ChurchToo.’ The protesters, including one of the leaders of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Aisha Yesufu, could be seen we...

COZA rape scandal: Presidency finally speaks, wants Biodun Fatoyinbo arrested

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has charged the Nigeria Police Force to “pick up” the Senior Pastor of COZA Church, Biodun Fatoyinbo. Onochie said Fatoyinbo should be arrested and a polygraph test administered on him to prove if he is innocent or lying. Recall that wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo, Busola had alleged that the COZA founder had forcefully raped her when she was young. The mother-of-three narrated how Pastor Fatoyinbo allegedly forced his way into her when she was a teenager. Fatoyinbo, however, denied the allegation, though admitted that Busola once attended the same church with his family. The clergyman consequently ordered his lawyers to institute both criminal and civil cases against Busola. Weighing in on the saga, the presidential aide in a tweet wrote: “He raped me – Busola “I didn’t rape her – Fatoyinbo “Me: What is the Police waiting to invite this alleged rapist for questioning? This may lead to a po...
